Virtues are an individual's attitudes and character traits based on the interactions within a social group and are developed over time. A social group is also known as a community or society.
Social virtues include traits like charity, compassion, compromise, fairness, forgiveness, generosity, kindness and loyalty.
Virtues developed within a society should always supplement the individual's moral values which include honesty, integrity, justice, productiveness and pride. Social virtues that contradict the aforementioned moral values should always be avoided.
An example of a social virtue which could contradict your moral code, is compromise.
Imagine trying to compromise on something good with something evil. You should never knowingly do that. No one should compromise on moral values like knowledge, honesty, integrity and justice.
Individuals within a community could develop characteristics which conflict with other communities simply because of the demands of the different environment. They must learn to understand and respect these differences. Neither group should compromise their moral values for the sake of social harmony.
