Ethics is the philosophical study of Morality.
Morality applies to all living things. They all have an instinct to survive.
They must learn how to survive by developing a set of values based on actions that prove successful.
That set of values can be referred to as a moral code and for humans, always requires
Rational Thought.
Examples of moral values include: productiveness and pride (ie. what's good and bad).
As the environment changes, so too do the actions required for survival.
Living within a social group will always add the element of social harmony which introduces the need for
Social Virtues.
Examples of Social Virtues include: compassion, compromise, forgiveness and generosity
(ie. what's right and wrong).
Ethics always requires rational thought. Humans voluntarily use rational thought to accumulate
moral values during the instinctive process of self-preservation.
Learning what's good and bad always includes actions that contribute to health and happiness.
Even if you were deserted on a desert island, you would still need to use rational thought to survive.
Thinking irrationally or even worse, not thinking at all, will harm your chances of survival.
Why Ethics
The basic elements of Ethics are Morals and
